"Simply put, the easiest way to avoid credit card debt is by not obtaining credit cards. I think it's very important for everyone to have one major credit card for emergency sakes, such as car repairs, house repairs. But the thing that gets most people in trouble is by getting store merchant credit cards. They tend to be higher in interest rate causing higher payments and longer pay off period. So the best way to do it is to get a Mastercard or Visa from your personal bank and stay away from the store credit cards. Another way to not have credit card debt, and most people are guilty of it, is by wanting frivolous things and their credit card making it easy to obtain those items. So live within your means and stay away from the temptation to use a credit card to go get something that you really can live without."
