Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants of similar weight fight each other using only their fists. Boxing today is conducted in a regulated way, usually in a series of one to three-minute intervals called rounds. A winner is determined if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten, or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue. If there is no stoppage of the fight before an agreed number of rounds, a winner is determined either by the referee's decision or by the scorecards of judges.
Boxing is a sport that requires a lot of intense training. In this free video series, a boxing coach and expert will teach you about training for boxing with a double end bag, which is basically a punching bag suspended by a flexible cord running through it vertically. You'll learn the function of a double end bag, how to practice rhythm, jabs, uppercuts, and other variations and coached sequences. With these techniques for training, you'll be a step ahead of your boxing opponents.
"In our first clip for the boxing basics for the double end bag, we're going to talk briefly about the different sizes of double end bags. This here is a smaller one. They have quite a bit larger ones, they're easier to hit, harder to miss. They have what they call a "double one," which is more shaped like a torso of a body where you have your head and your body below it. The basic requirement for all double end bags is that they be adjustable because you have a lot of different height people in the gym, so you want to make sure that they can be adjusted. This basically, we're just tying knots in the rubber here, and then we can wrap around the top to make it adjustable for the different heights. The actual height should be approximately your chin height, because you're imitating boxing another boxer, so you're throwing from your cheek to your chin and you're throwing straight across. So it should always be approximately your chin height. Paul? Yeah. When you're using the double end bag, obviously you want to go at your own comfort level. There's different sizes, like Bill had eluded to, that you start off with bigger ones, usually. You can also adjust the tension in the bands so that it actually has a more rapid response. So, obviously, go with your own comfort level, and just take it slow."
