"Hungary's National Jewish Museum and Archives is located at the Dohany Synagogue complex in Budapest. The forward museum is next to the birthplace of Zionism founder Theodore Herzl. The Jewish Museum, which was founded in 1916, is one of the most valuable collections of Jewish culture in all of central Europe. Exhibitions include devotional objects of Jewish festivals, every day utensils and the Holocaust Memorial Hall. The permanent exhibition features a copy of the charter granted to Hungarian Jews by King Bella IV in 1251. Other important objects include a third century tomb stone, a pair of Spanish copper rhymins from 1602, a pair of Padowin rhymins from 1706 and a Tora crown with the Pest seal of authenticication dated 1806. The last room contains a small moving exhibit on the Holocaust in Hungary. The Museum, which hosts temporary exhibitions on a regular basis also, has a public library."
