"The interior of St. Stephen's Basilika is elaborate and ornate. There are several chapels off the side aisles, while the main altar features a statue of the saint and king made out of solid carrera marble. Scenes from the king's life are displayed behind the altar, while the interior of the gilded dome is decorated with mosaic work depicting angels and saints. Hungarian artists, sculptors and artesians did all the artwork inside the Basilika. One painting depicts King Stephen offering his country to the virgin, the patron saint of Hungary. This image can be seen at the central chapel on the right at the main aisle. To the left you'll find St. Dexter's chapel, which contains one of the church's most valuable possessions. The altar's walls are very ornate with elegant colonnade and sculptures of the twelve apostles. The church is said to be second in size only to St. Peter's in Rome. Admission to the Basilika is free."
