Video Transcript

"The ruins of two amphitheaters can be toured at Budapest Aquincum Museum. The civilian amphitheater is located on the other side of what's today's railway line. The long elliptical arena could hold between five and six thousand spectators. The fact that there's also a military amphitheater in the area makes sense too since Aquincum was a military town. The amphitheater was built in the second century and is billed as one of the largest amphitheaters ever built by the Romans outside Italy. Its double the size of the civilian amphitheater and could seat an audience of 13000 at its time. Visitors can see the original height and shape of the cages where wild animals were once held. On the side of the amphitheater, it's located on the side that faces the hills. The Romans were known for tossing prisoners in with the lions as spectators watched them ripped apart. Another significant monument of the period is the Roman military baths. You can see them. Their heating areas are still intact as well as the cold and hot water pools. For more information, check out their website online."
