"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, and what we're talking about right now is how to become a good ball handler in a good fundamental way. One thing we want to talk about right now are some ball moves that you guys can use to make you a better ball handler, and also to go against the defenders and be able to set up the defenders and then go around them. And the first move that we're going to use is called the crossover. Now, it's very important that you set up the crossover properly, and that you use it in the right way. If not, what it basically is, is if you're dribbling down and you exchange hands, that's all you're doing. You're changing hands, but you're doing it in front of the defender. A lot of people that I see that try to use the crossover move, they'll have a defender right on the front of them, and they want to cross the ball over right in front of that defender. It's not going to work .They're going to steal the ball from you. The proper way to do this crossover is first of all, we have to have, when dribbling the ball--walk through it with me--dribbling the ball, he's got to have a good hard first step. Once he steps, then that's where you set up the defender. Now he's ready to go. Now, as he steps with that second foot, that's when he's going to cross the ball over. You noticed when he crossed the ball over he kept the ball low, he moved it from one hand to the other, and then as you explode on through, you're going to keep it in that outside hand, and that's going to keep the defender from going to one side to the other, and that's the effective way that you can use the crossover move."
