"IMovie is a registered trademark of Apple. I am in no way affiliated with Apple. In this clip I'm going to show you how to use your marking tools. Sometimes it's preferable to skim through, especially if you have a lot of video, a lot of source video. You might want to skim through it quickly and mark tools as either Favorites, Rejected Clips, or even unmark them after you've already marked them. So let me show you how to use these tools. Down here you see a solid star, an outline star, and an X. These are your marking tools here. Now we already have this clip selected; we want to mark this clip as a favorite, so we hit the solid star. You can see a green line appear, indicating that this is marked as a favorite. So let's select some more clips. Further on I have a clip here of the wake of the boat that I kind of like, I might want to use it in my sequence. Let's quickly select that and mark that as a favorite as well. Moving on, I kind of like this clip here where they kiss. Let's quickly select that, mark it as a favorite. The next clip is one of them cutting the cake, so let's select that very quickly, mark it as a favorite. And finally I want to select this clip down here, which is of the shoreline. Let's grab that and mark that as a favorite as well. Now you can also mark clips as rejects. For example, this beginning footage here that starts as black and goes all the way right up to the point of the vows and rings. We can mark that by hitting this X tool as a reject. You can also take a clip that you've already marked as a favorite, say this clip here of the shoreline, and unmark it by clicking the outline star. Let's mark that as a favorite so we'll put that back. So that's how you can quickly skim through your video and mark clips quickly as clips you'd like to keep, as acceptable clips, or clips that you'd like to get rid of."
