Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure the investigator that will be handling your case is Licensed.

  2. Step 2

Make sure that they specialize in the field pertaining to your case!

  3. Step 3

Make sure they are Insured and Bonded!

  4. Step 4

Make sure that the investigator will obtain video during surveillance especially when they lose the subject. Make sure that they video tape their travel, arrival times and when they end the surveillance.

  5. Step 5

Make sure the investigator can edit video!! This is one of the most important part of your service. If not what you will obtain at the end is what he finds verbally and he then will give you a "TAPE". This tape will lead you to buy a video camera that can process the tape or he might give you a VHS which will lead you to look for a VHS player when today were dealing with Blu Ray Technology (HD and DVD's).

You will need a quick video clip of the evidence sent to you via email. Some investigators cannot do this nor can edit photo. They get stuck on one digital resolution photo where it is normally too big of a file size format to send via email. Make sure they can edit VIDEO and PHOTO's to send via email!!!

  6. Step 6

Make sure to cover yourself in the agreement that if they don't provide video, photo's of the surveillance you don't pay. Don't settle for written reports on their word only!!

  7. Step 7

Make sure if they are to conduct night surveillance that they have NIGHT VISION TECHNOLOGY Camera's and Video. Don't settle for excuses!

on 8/27/2008 Using a nationwide directory of pre-screened private investigators helps take some of the guesswork out as well. One such site is www.pinow.com. Always do your homework though - if you PI isn't licensed or breaks the law, anything they find could be thrown out of court.
