We're going to be talking about pawn shops. Today I'm here at Inland Jewelry and Loan. A common mistake that most people make when coming into a pawn shop is thinking that everything is stolen. We, like I said we work with the police reports closely. We live here in the City of Upland and we write police reports on a daily basis and hand them in to the City of Upland and they make sure that the things that we're receiving are not stolen and that is government law that every pawn shop has to do that. But most people will come in here thinking, oh everything is stolen, this is mine, this is mine, this is mine and stuff have been out on the shelf for years and they got their house broken into a week ago. And the reason for that is because most police officers don't even know the laws with pawn shops. A lot of the detectives don't even know the laws with pawn shops and they'll tell them to go check the pawn shop, make sure your stuff is not in their show cases. It's most likely not going to be in the show cases. When we buy something we have to hold it for a minimum of 30 days before we can even set it out for sale. And if we break that law, we can be fined and even have our doors closed. So we don't miss around. If they tell us 30 days, we hold it for 31. So that's how that works, you won't see your stuff out of here on the shelves but the best way to get your stuff back if for example something is stolen, is go to the police department and make sure that they do their homework. Tell them to make phone calls, give them names, tell them to call us and work with us. And you know we don't like a thief just as much as anyone else and we want you to get your stuff back if it is in here. If it is, fine, you don't have to pay us any extra money, you have to pay us what we have in it and that's it. But the best way to go about getting your stuff back from a pawn shop is definitely going through the police department. A lot of people will come in here really mad, yelling, screaming, cussing at us and things like that and we tell them, you know what? There's nothing we can do about it, the law is the law, the rules are the rules, we're not going to break or bend the rules for anybody. If you want your stuff back, you have to go through the police department.
