"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Tom Roland and we are here at Cottonwood Motor Sports and we are here to tell you about doing a service on a Polaris Quad and this is a fairly representative of macho, many of them. After we've drained the oil tank here and the motor on the other side, the next step is oil filter. The oil filter is right here are reals close right here on most models. All Polaris models use a spin on oil filter that looks a lot like this and is a lot like a car filter that is just downsized. You take it off and you want to make sure you screw it on correctly without cross threading it. Also the rubber gasket here when you take it off, you want to make sure that the gaskets are in the filter, not stuck up on the motor and you also when you go to put your new filter on, you want to take a little bit of old motor oil. They don't recommend new motor oil and you put a little bit up here. Just like a car filter they recommend screwing it on until it touches and about 3/4 of a turn or maybe a turn that is usually all that it needs for the filter to be sealed correctly. They recommend a new filter after every oil change. The 500 filters are different than the twin cylinder filters are on the Polaris. They are not interchangeable although the oil is so that is always something to pay attention to that you get the correct filter. "
