"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Tom Roland and we are at Cottonwood Motor Sports and I am here to tell you about doing service on a Polaris Quad and this is fairly representative macho, many of them. We are fortunate here that we have lifts and stuff to work on it so that it makes it a lot easier for our job at home. You would be grabbing around on the floor and it is a little bit more difficult but you can do work at home. The hydraulic lifts are made for the Quads and they are wide enough and they are all air operated and they definitely make our life a lot easier because a lot of the work we can get it up where we can see. Looking for being able to see and looking for things is what really is important. Next is the oil change. On the Polaris's you take this side panel off and it fits in grooves right here, right here and there is a rubber pin that sits in there. You just set it aside and then the oil on the Polaris's to check the oil, you need a rage. To check your oil on the Polaris's they have a separate oil tank. All the oil is not in a Polaris motor. Most Polaris motors they have what they call a remote reservoir oil system and this is the dipstick for a Polaris. Some of them are up under here and the dipstick on a Polaris when you check it, you pull it out and wipe it off and you don't screw it back on. You just set it on back on top and bring it out and you can tell your oil level. This one is right here. It's right where it is supposed to be. On Polaris's 500, you have to drain the tank and the tank drain is on the bottom of the tank and it is right here. You also have to drain the motor on the 500's and the 500's have a drain plug on the bottom. The most common thing that people don't do is they don't drain the motor and if they don't drain the motor, it mixes the old oil and the new oil and the Polaris takes 2 quarts of oil. If you pour 2 quarts in the tank, it will fit but it automatically overfills the motor and overfills the tank. So when you do a Polaris 500 motor which there are a lot of them out there, you always have to pull the drain plug on the other side. "
