"PETTIDEE: What's up? This is Pettidee with Soldier Sound Records on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to give you tips on live performance. Next one I'll talk about song listing, track listing. Make sure when you're doing your shows, and I see a lot of artists that don't do this, make sure that you have a song list. Not that little itty-bitty song list that you guys give the soundman with number 7 and number 3 and number 12. Again, when you're dealing with somebody who doesn't know your music and has to do sound for other artists, those numbers with your name on it in front of him can be very confusing. So, what I like to do is I like to type out a bold--a track listing in bold letters, and I'll give one to the soundman with my CD with all my songs on one disc, I'll give one to the soundman and then I'll hide one on the stage, preferably under a monitor where I can know where I am. And the good thing about doing that is if you decide to skip a song, the soundman will know exactly what you're talking about. Also, if, you know, with us being artists, we sometimes we can get--catch a vibe and we'll want to change up our song listing, if I decided to change up my song listing, what I do is I'll, again, I'll get a regular sheet of paper and I'll write--get a black marker, not a pen, because with all the lights down, you can't see what you wrote in pen and the soundman in the dark can't see what the next song is. I use a black permanent marker and I'll write out the song list so that he and I will be on the same page. So, make sure that you not only give the soundperson a big song listing because the soundman is in the dark, but you have that song list as well, and it should go great."
