Painting Light to Dark on Leather Jackets

"I want to talk a little bit about working light to dark. It's a lot easier to go over or cover up a lighter color than it is a darker color. When you're doing your design, if you're doing light and dark colors, start with your light color. I'll show you a little bit of an example here. I have the little bit of white that I've started here. Let's say it's a flower petal. Now I'm going to use a dark color. Pour a little bit out. Initially, let's say I have a bit of imperfection in my line so far. When you use your second color or your darker color, you have the opportunity to clean up your lines with this color. I'll show you how to do that right now. You're going to take your darker color and basically fill it in. When you go over the lighter color, you're not going to be able to see it anymore, so your line is going to be clean. If you had a darker color first and then you're going to go over it with a lighter color, you're going to still be able to see the darker paint underneath. You're going to end up having to go over it 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 times to cover up that darker color. You really want to work light to dark. You're going to save yourself a lot of time. "
