"Next we're going to select a design. The key to successfully choosing the design is if you're a beginner, try not to choose something really intricate because you might end up being frustrated. Start with something simple. Here's an example. Just a tattoo is a great idea. You can get anything. You can add on if you want. You can take away. You can just do a simple part of it. You can also take these and put it on a copy machine and blow it up. That way it's easy when you do your stencil. For instance, if somebody wanted to do this design on a jacket, you would find your jacket, decide what space you wanted it to be on. Let's say we're doing the back of the jacket across the shoulders in the back. Measure your space and think about how big you want the design to be on the jacket. Sort of get a rough measurement of that. Then go to Kinko's or wherever you can copy it and blow your image up to that size so that when you make your stencil, you have it pretty much right on. You might have to try a couple different times. That's okay. If you get it the first time, that's great. That's amazing. Also, you can look through different design books. You can find these at thrift stores too for like a dollar or two. There are like billons of them to choose from. Here's one that's got flowers and plants and all kinds of different designs. If you're starting out, try not to do something really intricate. Like this might be a little bit more difficult. Maybe you want to just start out something like this. Try to decide on something that you feel you're going to have success with basically and practice it before you do it on the actual jacket. That's pretty much the key to being successful. Practice it a few times. If you mess up, I will get to that later, which of course, everybody does. That's it. Look around, find something you love, measure it out to the size you want it to be on the jacket, and then blow it up a copier to that size. Then you're ready to go. We'll get to the next step."
