"Now, the simplest way to tie two ropes together to lengthen your rope would be to use your same simple overhand knot. So, I have two ropes here of varying color. We're going to lay these right here. Now, this right here is going to be my working end and my standing end over here. So, I will take these. Pull a little bit more here. This is being very unruly on me. And, just loop them over and pull them through in a simple overhand knot. Now, I have two ropes securely tied together. And, the knot, you can see, wraps over both ropes, so there's no fear of these ropes actually slipping or this knot coming loose. The more you pull on it, the more the knot will tighten. So, let's undo this and we'll do this one more time, do it a little bit slower. Here's my standing end. And, here's my working end. Pull a little bit more out. Just loop this over like that, and pull both of them through at the same time. Give it just a nice, good tug. And, there you go, a nice, simple way to attach two ropes and the more I pull, the tighter it gets. So, very secure. "
