Make Piles to Categorize Clothes

"Hello, I'm Melissa Schenk on behalf of Expert Village, we are going to be learning how to organize your closet. In this clip now let's decide how to sort our clothes. You've laid your clothes out either on your bed or wherever you've chosen to, but we're going to sort our clothes into six different piles. The first pile of course is the keepers. The things that are in great condition, that you wear very often, that you love, that's going to go back into your closet, that's going to go back onto your shelf. They are the keepers. The next is the storage. So that pile, very much like the keepers, you do wear it often, but they are more seasonal type of wear. So for instance, if it is not in season, or it's not the winter perhaps and you've got lots of sweaters that are bulky, that are taking up a lot of space, that stuff is going to go into storage pile. Maybe in fact it is taking up too much real estate in your closet and you could make better use of that space by putting it into storage and by sorting your clothes seasonally. Now the third pile, is repairs. As you're going through your clothes, anything that is stained, that needs to be washed that perhaps that you didn't see before or that is missing a button or needs some alterations or tailoring or has a rip or a tear, alterations and repairs. So you’re going to make a pile for repairs. So we've got our keepers, our storage, our repairs. The fourth one is returns. There's probably still something that is sitting in your closet that still has a tag on it, that you didn't even wear once you bought it in the stores. So if you can return it you might be able to actually, it might be too late, but you might be able to return it indeed. So that's the fourth one. The fifth one is give away or sell. So you might make a pile; I usually get a couple of garbage bags together and anything that I want to give to the Salvation Army. It’s just, I don't really want to wear it anymore but it's in really good condition or perhaps you can sell it to someone as well and make some return on that investment and make a few extra dollars. And finally the last one is throw away. You might use it for a dust rag or something in your house, but throw away something you wouldn't want anybody else wearing or you just indeed need to get rid of. So work on those six piles and I'll see you in the next clip."
