"OK now I'm all set to make the lid for this, but I do have to measure this before I do the lid. so I get my calipers and I loosen them up a little bit. I put them to the shape, or I should say, to the size of the pot. Bring it down and make sure they go down all the way down past that rim. Tighten it up and after I tighten it, check it again. Now the opposite side of these calipers will make the outside part of the lid, which I'm all ready to do at this point. So I'll take that off and put it over here. When I make the lid it's a very small piece, so what I'm going to do with that is throw it off the hump. When I throw off the hump it just means that I'm not centering the whole piece of clay. OK I'm just grabbing a little bit of the top. So that's centered, that's not. That's just bouncing and wobbling. So I take the calipers, OK so I know that that's what the inside part of the lid has to be, it has to fit into there. And I'm going to make a little rim that sits on top of the pot. I'm just going to make this a little lower for that to be a tiny bit wider for the rim."
