"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is a way to keep our running backs from avoiding major contact or avoiding a tackle at all. One of the most important things a running back or wide receiver can do is to have those second chances, to get out of tackles. Never give up until the whistle blows. A lot of times you'll see players get hit lightly, they give up and go down. But, sometimes you'll see guys that keep those feet moving, they keep their body lean, they keep charging down the field. Sometimes, somebody will let go of them and if the official has not blown the whistle, that play is still alive. We're going to walk through what it might look like (video demo). If our defensive back or linebacker comes up and makes a tackle on our running back and he keeps his feet moving and he's spinning him around but he doesn't go down, he may break out and he can run up field and get more positive yardage. You never want to stop until the play is whistled dead. We can hopefully pick up some yardage. So, some things to remember when trying to avoid the tackle. First of all, avoid the player. Secondly, try at all costs to initiate the contact, spin out of it, juke out of it, whatever the case may be. Keep your legs moving and never quit until the whistle is blown at the end of the play. Try to stay out of getting tackled or try to pick up additional yardage after the tackle."
