"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. We're still talking about how to intercept a pass. One important thing is if you don't have direct coverage on somebody and I'm matched up man on man with this guy I can read him a little and tell what's going to happen. But if I'm not matched up on the receiver I'm going to have to read the quarterback's eyes a little. For example, if I'm over here playing in a linebacker position I have to read to see if it's a run play. Once I see that quarterback drop then I have to drop back in coverage and read his eyes. If the quarterback is looking in this direction then I have to cheat this way to try to pick up the tight end coming out. If I see the quarterback rolling or looking to the left then I have to start shuffling and moving to the left in order to pick up the pass. Same thing for the free safety and strong safety. They have to look and read the quarterback to see which direction he's going and to go to see where the strong side receivers are. A lot of it comes from reading the quarterback's eyes telling which direction a play will go up. Then you can sometimes cheat up and get an easy interception."
