"I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about Iguanas. Iguanas are usually from El Salvador. This is a captive breed and captive raised Iguanas. So he hasn't experienced nature but in nature they would have wooded areas, lots of trees to climb up on and these are borial animals. They do not spend a lot of time on the ground so what we did here to replicate what we would normally be seeing in the wild is I produced the artificial sunlight over there which he uses this log here to sit on and absorb that sunlight which is very important for their digestion. I provided lots of artificial plants in here to make him feel more like he's surrounded by nature. They do not know the difference between artificial and life plants. They will not be able to tell so to him this is kind of like the top of the tree here. He has this area right here which I enclosed so that there is no skin or foreign objects to get into this food and water. This is where I keep his food and water, he also has taken to using it as his little box. They do tend to go in one specific place when they are kept in a cage and the spot he picked is right next to his water dish in the back there. What I actually done here is I used a rabbit hut as his temporary cage until he grows out of it anyways. It provides him with two levels, the level I keep covered in the bottom I keep covered in the wood. You can buy wood pellets from the store or from many pet stores. It's Douglas fir bark I believe or you can buy something called jungle earth, that works just as well. But using this rabbit hutch has been really convenient for us cause that way I can provide his heating and lighting up here when he likes to come up here and digest or he can go cool off down in the bottom lower level. He doesn't actually tend to go down there too much but when he does want to cool off, he uses it probably once or twice a week. This is where I keep his food I don't have his food dish in there right now because his salad is being prepared."
