"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee, and we're here today with Expert Village. The topic of how to overcome fear is what we're talking about today. I've given you a few pointers on how to get yourself in position to overcome this fear. The more you know about it, the easier it will be for you. The last time we got together, we talked a little bit about asking yourself the right kinds of questions so that you can identify and begin to admit and analyze what kind of fear you have and where it's coming from. These questions that you ask are very important. One of the questions that you can ask yourself is how does this fear affect me, or how much fear do I actually have. Sometimes I will have my clients in the counseling arena or when I'm doing online counseling, I will have them actually give me a gage. For example, I'll say on a scale of 0 to 10, how much fear do you feel. Ten is the very worst fear that you've ever experienced. Then they'll look at it and they'll gage. It was 5 and last week it was a 4. They'll just begin to monitor it and begin to realize that they have progressed or they have not progressed. To be able to identify where you're coming from, you need to look at this scale and help yourself to gage it a little bit better."
