"Hi, this is Francisco Calas from Tampa, FL with Pool Inspectors on behalf of Pool Inspectors of Expert Village. Our theme today is basic spa maintenance. Next step we need to do is go ahead and clean the basket inside the pump. One of our main things with pool maintenance is the chemistry, filtration and circulation. The circulation and the filtration is directly affected by the amount of debris that we have in our basket. So we are going to go ahead and turn off our system. Turn of our pump; going to use a rubber mallet to open the basket. When you open the basket, you want to inspect the O ring to make sure it is not cracked or is just worn or torn up. Remove your basket from your pump. Remove any debris and return it to the system and replace your basket. At this point you want to go ahead and check to make sure that it is not leaking. So what you are going to do is going ahead and turn on your filter again. If the pool or the pump has lost prime, you want to make sure that it is circulating once again; because if the pool loses prime and it doesn?t catch water you can actually burn out our pump. And we have full prime. So at this point I can feel safe about my cleaning of the basket and the pump."
