Series Summary

The Jacuzzi is today synonymous with luxurious spas and high-end whirlpool baths. Many other companies manufacture hot tubs and stand-alone whirlpools, but the Jacuzzi name endures as the prestigious originators of both therapeutic and sybaritic home spas. Seven Italian brothers moved to California at the turn of the century and began picking oranges to fund their inventions of jet propellers and water pumps. In the 1950s, the brothers developed a portable water pump that could be placed in bathtubs to soothe people with crippling or painful ailments. By 1967, after family tragedies and changes in trajectory, the brothers patented a stand-alone spa and gained celebrity endorsement. Thus the brand was born.

In this free video series, expert Francisco Cales shows you how to maintain and clean your Jacuzzi, or any brand of whirlpool bath. You will learn how to check chemicals and PH levels in the water, add chlorine, and maintain proper alkalinity. Francisco teaches you how to skim and vacuum a whirlpool connected to a swimming pool, and also how to troubleshoot the filter, pump, and skimmer baskets. You will learn how to clean tiles and walls and how to ensure safety while handling the high-pressure systems common in many hot tubs.

"Hi this is Francisco Cales on with Pool Inspectors on behalf of Expert Village. Are theme today is basic spa maintenance. To test out the chlorine in the spa, we can go ahead and use a tailored kit. in the tailored kit, we have color-coded chemicals and two valves, were we will go ahead and put into the water about 12 to 16 inches below, pop it out, fill the small valve to the indicator line. And use the yellow cap valve which is agent R001 added 5 drops of the valve. Following the same steps, we are going to add 5 drops of agent R002. Put the cover on one more time, mix it up slightly, and read the indicator. The indicator is colored coded it will say CL which will tell us we are reading the chlorine. It goes from .5 to 5.0. At this time are indicator indicates about 3.0 which is an amount for the pool."
