Learn Some Picture Framing Design Ideas

On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Debbie Reeves at John's Design Center and I'm here to tell you about custom picture framing. These are a few of the different designs that we can do in framing. This particular one up here we've used a darker mat and we've put the design work in just the top two corners. You don't have to do a lot. Then, we have this water color over here. With this one, we've chosen two different wood moldings and no matting. So, it gives it the look of an original. We have these original watercolors. These are by a local artist. What we did is, these are seed pots that are hand painted in New Mexico. We gave the seed pot to the artist and she made an original watercolor that went along with the seed pot. So, you can see that this one here, she did the same thing. This is a little seed pot. We gave it to her and she incorporated that design in her framing. So, you have a little bit of a shadow box here with just a little bit of design work. You see that it's offset so that you have a little more on the side. So, you can see that you can use light matting or you can use dark matting. These here in the front again, you can do a one of a kind design that no one else has. This will be an heirloom that you will hand down for generations. This one here is just a little calendar print. You can see that just by doing some special design work in the matting, you make that little calendar print an original piece.
