"Hi, I'm Chris owner of Salon Teez, for Expert Village this is how to create your own iron on t-shirt. Determining the type of shirt that you are going to use for your iron on transfer is a big deal. Typically we want to make sure that our t-shirts are a 100% cotton type of t-shirt. This gives us best results and can hold up to the amount of heat that we need to use when applying the transfer. We can also use our transfer on a 100% cotton tank top as well. This particular tank is of a ribbed type of cotton. Once we're using a rib type of cotton t-shirt, we want to make sure that we just iron it out a little bit and kind of spread those ribbs out so that we make sure we great even ink distribution when applying our transfer. The other type of shirt to use that is really good is a 95/05 blend. This is 95% cotton, 5% spandex it's great because these allow for some stretching that pertains its shape wash after wash. We could also use a 50/50 blend, which is 50% cotton and 50% wool, which is found in most thermal shirt. Typically we don't want to use anything less than a 50% cotton type of t-shirt, as the t-shirt may actually tend to melt as we apply the heat and the pressure that we need to apply when ironing the transfer.
