"Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. So today's topic is making cool potholders for your kitchen. First thing you need is the pattern. Now what I did instead of going out or going online trying to find a potholder pattern, is I just took an existing potholder that I had that I got from some mass market store and just traced it. So you just take it, put it on a piece of larger paper. I love to use wrapping paper when I making patterns if I don't actually have pattern grade paper here or if I ran out. Because it's so accessible usually it's very inexpensive and then you get these really fun colorful patterns. So what I did is just take a standard potholder that I had that I just bought from the store and laid it down on a piece of wrapping paper. Just simply traced around it; trace all the way around it and then even when you get to the cuff, mine was a little bit longer. But I wanted mine to be a little more decorative so I just rounded off the cuff but if you want yours to be longer to come mid arm, then go ahead and draw yours longer. Or if you want it more curved then you can do that too. Once that is done you are going to go ahead and cut it out and this is going to be the pattern that you are going to use to make your fun new potholders."
