How to Carry Paragliding Motor

"Welcome to Expert Village. My name is Hugh Murphy with Surf the Sky Paragliding. In this clip, we're going to talk about carrying the units. So, with the harness sliding out like this, it's nice to button up your unit a little bit to make it easy to carry. And, in this case, we'll just use a bungee cord and come up to keep the harness out of the way so that you can then come in and lift it up safely by the part of the frame that carries the weight. You don't want to grab the netting because you have too much weight to bear on that or the top of the cage. But, in this case, the bottom of the cage which is attached to the unit, and this is how you would carry this unit around. With a smaller unit, and obviously less weight, we'll still button up the harness to make it nice and compact so that it's easy to carry. And, we'll just slide on these loops up here and then, with this unit, it's quite easy to carry. It almost feels like you're carrying a briefcase because this is only a thirty-six pound unit and preferred by people that like a lighter motor. So, when you're carrying this out, for instance, to the beach or, if you're going to be setting it down where there's some loose debris or dirt or small gravel, it's very important to have a platform to set your motor on so that when you're sitting here, you can do a warm up on your motor with your propeller going and not have to worry about pulling sand through and hitting a wooden prop or debris that can actually knick and damage your prop. So, a platform is what protects you from the sand or loose debris and takes much better care of your motor."
