"Now we're ready to decorate our rain stick. I'm going to be using some string or yarn that's going to be placed along, it's going to be wrapped around the whole length of the rain stick. I'm going to use different colors. And the way it's going to stick onto the roll, to the rain stick is by way of glue. So, the first thing I need to do is coat the entire length of the rain stick with glue. Now, I chose to use yarn to decorate the rain stick because if I use paper or some other type of fabric or cloth, something that I want to glue on top of the rain stick, it's going to be hard to cut it and work it so that it goes around the match sticks that are sticking up. So, this way, with the string, I can just roll it around and if I come to the match sticks, I can just kind of weave it, weave it through and the match sticks don't become a problem in decorating it with the yarn, so that's one of the reasons why I chose to use string in this case. We have to apply a nice, thick coat of glue along the entire length. Any point that is left without glue along the rain stick, the yarn will not be able to stick and you'll see that it's coming up and that leaves the potential of having the whole thing tear and rip the whole string ripped off of the roll because obviously it's one long string. It's all connected, so it's very important to put a nice thick coat of glue along the entire length and this way, when you put the yarn all points along the length of the yarn will stick to the rain stick. Since the white glue dries clear, it's also not a problem to just paint right over the match sticks because you're not going to cover up the color, it's going to dries clear. You'll be able to see them. So, once we have a nice thick layer of glue along the length of the rain stick, we're ready to apply our string. So, now I've shown you how to coat the rain stick with a layer of glue."
