"Hi my name is Gail Hoffman, and I'm from North Reddington Beach, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to demonstrate how to open a coconut. Ok, so we're going to drain the liquid out of the coconut, and it's important to know that this is not really coconut milk. Some people might think that this is called coconut milk, but it's just the liquid of the coconut. And it can be consumed. You can drink it. Maybe in a small amount, and the coconut milk is actually something that is made from the coconut flesh and the water. It's simmered and then pureed and then strained, and then the end product is what is known as coconut milk that we use for our cooking and various drinks. So I've drained it, and again it's very important to get all of the liquid out, so when you go to crack open the coconut you're not going to have spattering liquid everywhere."
