"Hi, my name is Charlie Labarda. I'm here with Expert Village. I'm here to show you how to fish trout in a lake and pond. We're going to go over how to cast an open-faced reel. You notice the slack on the tip of my fishing pole, I'm going to open my bell, open this bell, this is called a bell, and I will hold one of my index fingers against the reel. And I will make sure everything is clear. I will point my fishing pole to the back. When I throw, I will point the fishing pole where I want to release. So just hold it, make sure it is clear behind you so you don't hook anybody. Everything is clear at the reel, nothing gets caught, and just throw it over like so. Once again, I'm going to show you how to cast an open-faced reel. I take my index finger. I grab the line against my fishing pole, I open the bell, I look behind me, I make sure I look at my tip, I look at my base, make sure there is no line and nobody behind me. Now my hook. I hold it with two hands or one hand, whatever you prefer to be comfortable. When you throw, throw straight out. When the fishing pole is level, let go of the string. So, throw and point, just like so. As soon as you cast, close up your bell and take the slack off the line. And that's how you do an overhand casting with an open base."
