This reel is a Shakespeare. Notice the size, this a small reel for this type of fishing. You can go a little bit larger. This is an open faced reel. If you see a closed face reel the line is hidden so see what you prefer using. You can use both sides it can go left or right. It has a reverse a lock, it will go backward or forward. Do not get any bigger reel for the type of fishing you are doing. When you go to the sporting good store ask professionals or fishing guides what kind of reel would be best for you.
