How to Choose a Paragliding Motor

"CHAD BASTIAN: Hi, this is Chad Bastian, welcome to Expert Village. We're here to talk about the trike buggy and PPG triking with paragliders. Okay. In this clip we're going to talk about how to choose a motor kind of the big question. There are a lot of motors out there. There are a lot of different features and a lot of different people selling their features telling you their motor's the best. And I think the bottom line is that all motors have features and benefits that are good and other features and benefits that maybe aren't so good. I think the best thing to do is research the motor. Look at what's out there. Some motors are quieter. Other ones are stronger. Other ones are cheaper. There are a lot of reasons to get different motors and what's right for you maybe different for somebody else. There may be someone that really believes their motor's the best and they're going to tell you, "Absolutely, mine will do everything," but the bottom line is for them it maybe better but for your purpose, it may not be the best motor. So, look around and see. Also, it may be good to choose a motor based on your instructor. Your instructor is going to be able to help you service the motor that they sell, and so buying a motor that they know nothing about, you show up with that motor and they'll probably not going to be able to help you as well. So, it may be good in your particular case to choose a motor that you're going to be able to get good back up on. You want to do that anyway. Make sure you got one that you can get service and parts and information because when you buy a motor, you become your own mechanic. There's nobody that really works on these except for yourself. So, you have to be the person that's going to be able to work on your motor. And the bottom line is all the motors work and people are flying just about everything out there. Certainly, some of them are more reliable. Some of them are cheaper. Other ones are noisy. It's all a matter of what you want. That's why I don't sell one particular type of motor because I think for different people, there's definitely different things that are going to be better for them."
