"JOHN BROWN JR.: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is John Brown, and I'm going to show you a little bit about the different ranges in knife fighting. The first range we're going to work is long range. If I can see my attacker coming and I see the attack coming and I'm also armed, he attacks me with a number one with a downward diagonal, I step back and I can try to disarm his weapon by cutting his hand and following up at a long range, as to be safe, and stay as far away from the blade as I can. The safest thing would be to avoid the situation altogether. So long range technique, step back, cut and finish at a long-range, long distance. In Filipino martial arts, we call it largo mano or [SOUNDS LIKE] de campo estilo. He feeds number one. I step back, get out of range and follow up at a long range distance."
