"I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to basic horse care. Another really important part of basic horse care is making sure your horse is a getting a adequate amount of exercise on a daily basis. So whether you are turning your horse out in a pasture where it is able to have a little bit of freedom, it is able to move around, it is able to run around, blow off any steam if it needs to or just gets out of its stall environment and being able to circulate blood flow. Also another type of exercise that you can give your horse on a daily bases is a lunging basically what this would entail is just having your horse. You could either free lunge without a line or put your horse on a lunge line and without you riding it, you can have the horse go around and perform the various gates walk, trot, canter. This would help build muscles in your horse, helps your horse blow steam and just get your horse out and moving. Then of course, you could also ride your horse on a daily basis a few time a week. But you definitely don't want to purchase a horse and just leave it sitting in a stall. It is not healthy for your horse to be confined in such a small space on a daily bases. You want to make sure that it is getting out, being able to stimulate blood flow and being able to blow off any steam. Cause if you have a horse that stalls for a long period of time, it is going to end up getting frustrated, it is going to end building excess energy and then if you get to the point where you do want to work with that horse, it could make it a little bit dangerous for you. So definitely get your horse out making sure that it is getting an adequate amount of exercise. Whether you turn it out, your lunge it or actually ride it on a daily bases is really beneficial to your horse."
