"I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to basic horse care. Another really important part of overall horse health is making sure that you are having your horse seen every 4-8 weeks by a ferrier. Basically what a ferrier is a horse hoof specialist, it is a person who would come and trim your horses feet if there are a little too long. It is a person who would put shoes on your horses feet if your horse is requiring shoes. They would also be on a look out for any abyss or any fungal conditions that may be incurring in your horse feet that you are not aware of, that you are not able to see by looking at their feet everyday. So making sure that your horses is under a ferrier care, is really really important especially if you are riding your horse a lot or you are competing in any strenuous events or if your horse does not have good feet to begin with. You want to make sure that you are having a ferrier look at your horses feet. Keeping the horses hooves really nice and trim, keeping it in shape that it needs to be. Keeping it facing a proper angle to the ground so your horse would be able to move better for you and it would be more comfortable when you are riding it.
