"I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to basic horse care. Another really important part of overall horse care is making sure you are taking good care of your horses feet. Cause without healthy feet you have either a lame horse or a unridable horse. So you want to make sure, this is a hoof pick. So you want to make sure on a daily bases you are cleaning out any dirt or debris or rocks that maybe wedged into your horses feet. This would ensure that it keeps the feet really nice and healthy, it would keep the feet dry if you have too much build up of either wet saw dust, manure or urine in there that could lead to either a fungal, an infection in a horse feet or it could lead to an abyss. If you would have a stone in there that could lead into bruising that could make your horse really sore in its feet or lame or make it unridable. You also want to make sure you are conditioning your horses feet every once in a while. This is a tar base conditioner that we can brush on the outside of the horses hoof. On the hoof wall, this would keep the horses feet really nice and soft, and supple. Keep them from cracking while you are riding especially if you leave in a dryer environment where your horse has dryer brittle hooves. So making sure that you are taking care of your horses feet is overall important to horse maintenance."
