"Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to band my horses mane. So one thing that I like to do before I band my horses mane is to kind of trim it a little bit. So I would just take some scissors and go through here and just trim off a little bit of the length. Just makes it a little bit easier to band when I don't have so much length on her mane. So we are going to trim it really well later after we band to make sure that everything is all even. So we can just get a little bit of the length off. That just makes it a little bit easier to work with, to pull through the bands if you don't have so much length on your horse mane. So I like to kind of go through and trim it and get it in a manageable length first. So you can just do this with any regular pair of scissors. So you don't have to worry about it being really even. So that is how you want to trim the horse mane before you band."

on 8/2/2008 You should pull the mane to level it and not just cut along it with scissors - on a thick mane it would make it very difficult to get decent braids.
