"I'm Kelli on behalf of the Expert Village. I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use when bathing my horse. So now that we have our horse completely suds from head to tail, we're going to rinse this off. So I just turn my hose on a gentle shower. Again I'm going to start at her legs so she gets used to the water, used to the temperature so she won't dance so much. And we're just going to rinse her, making sure we get all the soap out. We don't want to leave any soap residue left into the fur, into the skin because this can lead to drying out your horse's coat or can lead to skin conditions down the road. So you really want to make sure that you're rinsing all of your shampoo out of your horse's coat. Another thing you want to make sure to when you are shampooing your horse is choosing a shampoo that's appropriate for your horse. There's many different kinds. If your horse has a dry or a dull coat, you can get a shine enhancing shampoos. You can get color enhancing shampoos. If your horse has a fungal or an allergy problem you can get shampoos that will help with that as well. So really assess your horse's situation and what you feel will benefit your horse the most and that will lead you in the direction you will need to go when you're choosing your shampoo. I'm just going to rinse her really well, get all of the soap out. I'm going to rinse her tail. Again standing off to the side, so that if we did happen to startle her she would kick out at the water, we wouldn't be in her line of fire. And of course you'd want to repeat the same motion on the opposite side. And since we did suds up her face we're just going to rinse her a little bit. So I'm going to turn this just to a light mist. Just hold it up and just kind of rinse her off, trying not to shoot her directly in the eyes. And just making sure it's on a nice gentle spray so it doesn't startle her or irritate her in any way. So that's how you want to go about raising your horse."
