How to Shampoo a Horse Tail

"I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you some tips and techniques I use when bathing my horse. So now that we have her all suds up all over her body, we're going to wash her tail. So how I like to do this, I feel it works the best, is I'll take my bucket with my remaining suds in it and I'll actually take her tail and I'll dunk it in the bucket. So again I'm making sure I'm standing off to the side so that I'm not behind her. And she's really calm and real easy to work around so I know this isn't startling her in any way. But if you have a horse that's a little more skiddish you might want to be careful when doing this. So after we dunked her tail in the suds, we're just going to kind of soap it up just like you would soap your own hair. Just kind of suds it around in there and get it really nice and clean. Take a little more if we need to. Just kind of dump it on the top. Again I highly suggest that your horse is really nice and calm and used to getting baths before you attempt to do something like that. Now we'll just suds it up, squeeze out any excess soap and any excess dirt. And that's how you'll want to shampoo your horse's tail."
