"Hi, I'm Kelli for Expert Village. I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to band my horses mane. So the first thing that we would do when we are preparing to band our horses mane, is we are just going to take our comb here and we are going to comb through and make sure we don't have any tangles. Cause if we do have a lot of tangles, this is going to make it really hard for us to section our horses mane. We also want to make sure that we remove any dirt or debris that may be trapped in the horses mane that might get in the way of our bands. A really great tip to when you are planning on banding your horses mane for competition is to make sure you have a clean mane. If you have a mane that is a little bit on the dirtier side, it makes it a little easier to stick together so it is going to hold and look a lot better. You can also put a gel in there if you need to, to give your horse a little more grit. Give the mane a little bit more hold so they would stay in, they would stay looking a lot flatter and they would stay looking a lot neater for you when you are showing. Especially if you are going to be competing for multiple days and you need your bands to stay in for a while. So you are going to come through the mane. We have all these tangles out and we are prepared to move on to the next step. "
