"Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to band my horses mane. Basically what banding is is when you section off about inch sections of your horses mane and your sectioning it off with little rubber bands. Most of the time this is used by horses showing or competition and your western pleasure discipline or your horsemanship or something to that nature. A lot of people in shows would do this such as your quarter horses, your palominos and your Appaloosa or your paint horses would do this as well. Sometimes you may see that these shows you may see these horses in the English disciplines with there mane banded as well. Which is a indicator that those horses probably competiting in both disciplines. So basically whenever you are competiting any type of show at that level you want to make sure that you are banding your horses mane. It just makes your horses mane a lot more presentable and it makes it more classy for the show ring. So that is what banding is and when you should do it."
