"Hi! This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're talking all about bamboo. In this segment, we're going to talk about how to use bamboo in landscaping. Bamboo is the perfect wall cover. It is a plant that can grow up to 10 feet tall in one year. If you have a corner in your yard that you don't like the view on the other side and you want to cover it up, it's used as a wall all over the world, and they'll grow. You have to be careful. There's 2 type of tall bamboos. There's clumping and the running. The clumping bamboo are the ones that are not quite as winter hardy, so you have to be careful about the varieties in your area and make sure they can make it through your winter. Then there's also the running bamboo, which will just take off and run everywhere. You have to keep in barriers. When you're using bamboo for a wall, make sure and pick the clumping ones first. If you're going to use the running bamboo, make sure and give it some kind of a break so that it won't take over. If you're not using it as wall, bamboo is wonderful in containers in your garden. They just are the ultimate container plant. Whether clumping or running, it doesn't matter if you keep them in a container, because they'll be beautiful out on your patio. When using them in your garden, they're a great bush. They look almost like a shrub, although they are a grass. Just make sure they're in an area where they can multiply. If you're using running, make sure you plant them in a pot in the ground or make a barrier for them. Either way, bamboo are gorgeous plants for your landscape. In the next section, we'll talk about bamboo blooms."
