How to Plant Bamboo

"Hi! This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're talking about how to grow bamboo and all about bamboo. In this segment, we're going to talk about how to plant your bamboo. Now, remembering that bamboo is really a grass. It's no different than the grass in your lawn, and you pretty much can grow it in the same conditions. I like to grow them in containers just because they're easier to keep them contained. This one's not going to run off and take over, or if it's runny, where they do take over? Pots are always a good way to grow your bamboo, and it's simple. As long as the roots are covered and the green is exposed, you can plant them. I like to give them enough room so that they can multiply some more, so give them space on each side. If you're going to a bigger pot than a smaller pot. Here I've just divided one big plant into 2 smaller plants giving it room. I'm going to keep separating it. Then I just keep adding dirt. I don't use any manure. I don't use anything but compost for my garden or my containers. Then once I’ve finished putting some dirt around it, I kind of compacted down a little bit. You can always add some rocks or some bark dust, wood chips, or marbles on the top to give it a little bit more zip. Outside of that, it's really easy to plant a bamboo.
