"Hi. This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series we are learning all about house plants, and in the next segment we will talk about how to keep house plants healthy. There's a lot of easy ways that you can keep your house plants healthy. I really try not to use any fertilizers or chemicals on them, because I've found that they pretty much grow without any fertilizer. I don't really take care of them a lot. When they start wilting, I add a lot of water and then I let them dry out. So that's the key; you water them and you let them dry out in between watering. The only way you can kill them is over-watering them. More people kill them that way than over-watering them. So, really what you need to do is change the water out here and there. So, if it's a plant that's just growing in water, I keep adding water, but I'll actually kind of dump out the water and add fresh water here and there so that the water doesn't get too murky. If it's a house plant that is in soil, I add a little compost to it here and there, just so that it can have a little more nutrition. But outside of that, I really don't do a lot with them; I just enjoy their company. Watch our next segment on common mistakes that people make with their house plants."
