"My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting design today. Some of the typical layers that you see in outdoor lighting definitely would be the landscape. If you have some interesting trees that you want to up light or you have some rocks or boulders or some water features in your yard that you want to light that is definitely one layer of something that you want to consider. Pedestrian walkways are another layer. You want to look at using either step lights or some kind of low level lighting that puts light on to that pathway so your guest know how to get from one place to the other when they are traveling through your yard and your landscape. You can typically put these 10-15 feet on centered depending on how high they are off the ground. You really don't want to go any higher then 24 inches. You don't want to go any lower then about 12. Low voltage lighting fixtures are great for this application. "
