    Video Transcript

"Hi, my name is Tom, I'm doing this video for expertvillage.com. In this segment what I want to do is show you the things that you don't need to know about your, you don't need to know from the regular guitar lessons. If you go to your local music store and look at the books, the kind of things that are in the books that you don't need to worry about. One of the things that they teach you in the books are all about scales and you spend a lot of time learning how to play scales. Single notes, something like this. Which is really nice but when you think about in gather parties or you are getting together with friends it really does not make a difference. The other they teach and spend a lot of time in guitar lessons is learning all the different notes on a particular string. So for instance I can say this is my low E string, that would make that a F, F sharp, G, G sharp, A, A sharp, B, C, and so on. Or the name of this string is A, the name of the next string is D, the name of the next string is G and it just goes on and on. Some of the books also have silly little songs that you learn like "On Top of Ole Smokey" or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and let's face it as baby boomers we don't need this kind of stuff. All you want to learn is how to play a few chords that you can follow along with the radio jam, with your friends, or be a chick magnet at that next party you go to with your new guitar. "
