"Hi, this is Tom. This is for expertvillage.com. These are shortcuts for playing the electric guitar. That second lead pattern we did in the last segment, walking up kind of the guitar neck, what I want to do is show you how you can add some of the tricks you learned, like hammering on and bending the notes. And so we start on our A--for no particular reason we'll start there. Slide up. Now there what I could do is kind of noodle on that or play that for awhile. And I can do that by hammering on and I'm picking down and then hit that note on my way back. And all that is, is that's at the top of that second pattern, hammering on, picking down, and then hitting that next note on the way up. And then if I want, the next two I could bend it. So, I've got that--there's two notes in that pattern. And I'll just bend this one so I can put that note bend in that hammer on at the end of that pattern, just to give it a little more color. And all that is, is just putting a little bit of bend and hammering on into that ladder pattern."
