Summary: Learn how to play 2nd lead on electric guitar in this free video music lesson.
"Hi, this is Tom. This is for expertvillage.com. These are shortcuts for playing the electric guitar rock and roll. This is a second pattern you can use for leads. It just gives you a second thing in your bag of tricks to impress your friends and neighbors and girls. What I'm doing is I'm going to start on A again, here's by base or my root, only instead of going my regular scale, I'm going to walk up. Some I'm going to progressively get higher up the neck of the guitar, and the way I'm going to do that is I'm going to slide that first note, and then I'm going to play, then I'm going to play the next two notes, and slide on that third string. So let's do that much--and then I'm going to play the next note. Walk over one string, same thing. This finger goes in the middle now. Skip a fret, skip two frets. So we'll go over that whole pattern again slowly. So what you can do is practice that pattern going up and down until it's nice and comfortable. So practice that a few times--different positions. And the more your practice it you'll get a better feel for using it in songs."
