Summary: Learn how to play an e chord on electric guitar in this free video music lesson.
"Hi. My name is Tom and this on behalf of expert village. We're talking about short cuts to playing the electric guitar and there's only four chords used in rock and roll; four bar chords. The first one is based on an E. If you've taken any guitar lessons you'll remember that E is played like that on your guitar. Now what happens is if you take your first finger and place it across the neck, make sure your finger is just behind the fret on a slight angle and you should be able to put pressure on the strings. If you haven't done this before it's going to take a little bit of time, but you should be able to hear each string sound properly when you got your bar, or this finger, like a clip across the guitar neck. If there's any thudding you got to press a little bit harder. I'm using my thumb on the other side to press down. That is the start for each of the bar chords. The E bar chord, you place your third finger on the second fret up from you index finger. Your little finger you tuck in there same position second fret above your index finger. Then my second finger here is tucked in on this string right here and it?s tucked in one fret up from the index finger. So you've got your bar. You've got you two fingers here, side by side or two frets up and then you tuck this finger in between your index finger and the others. You should get something that sounds like this. That is the E bar chord. So what you can do to practice that is go up and down the strings, up and down your neck and make sure that you're holding the position and that you get a good sound, a good ringing, with each position. There are no thuds or buzzing strings."
