Video Transcript

"Hi. This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're going to talk about square foot gardening and how to do it in your own backyard. So, what is square foot gardening? Well, about twenty five years ago, a man by the name of Mel Bartholomew wrote a book called "Square Foot Gardening." And it really isn't that different from raised bed gardening in the fact that they are just raised studs. But, the difference is that instead of having a large rectangle for your raised bed, you have a four by four square. And, within that four by four square, you divide it into one foot by one foot squares. In those squares, you plant separate plants and that way they stay contained. So, it's a wonderful system and a great way to garden. In this series, we'll examine how to create a square foot garden in your backyard. In the first section we will talk about what materials are needed for a square foot garden."
